Did the commission uphold Sean Sherk's steroid suspension?

After multiple date postponements, the California State Athletic Commission finally ruled on UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk's appeal, which sought to eliminate his one-year suspension following a positive drug test.

The CSAC decided to reduce the suspension to six months while keeping the $2,500 fine in place. The suspension was first issued in July, so Sherk could return to action as early as January.

UFC recently announced that an interim UFC Lightweight Championship would be issued to the winner of an upcoming BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson fight. The winner is slated to fight Sherk in a title unification bout later in 2008.
