American Idol: Wednesday's Elimination Leaves Only Six
Story reported by Brian Cantor of Headline Planet

Only six remain in this year's "American Idol" competition

The road finally came to an end for Kristy Lee Cook, who overcame repeated criticism to land in the top seven on this year's "American Idol."

Initially viewed as the throwaway "nonfactor" of the top twelve, Kristy Lee Cook began delivering solid performances that propelled her past a list of names that included frontrunner Michael Johns. But her Tuesday rendition of "Forever" was not enough to keep the hot streak going, and she was eliminated.

Brooke White held the other spot in the bottom two, while Syesha Mercado joined Brooke and Kristy in the bottom three.

Elliott Yamin and Mariah Carey performed during Wednesday's results show.

The six remaining contestants will receive advice from mentor Andrew Lloyd Webber next week as they strive to continue in the competition.
