A contestant leaves despite kind words from the judges
Her second performance on Tuesday night earned praise from the panel of judges, but it was not enough to keep her alive. Brooke White's "American Idol" journey is over.
After stumbling with "I'm a Believer," White performed "I Am...I Said" to a favorable reaction. While her fans showed tremendous voting support last week, after a night in which White forgot the lyrics and asked to restart a song, the base was not large enough to keep her around this time.
Syesha Mercado once again appeared in the bottom two; Jason Castro, who received the worst reviews of the night, survived along with frontrunners David Cook and David Archuleta.
The remaining four will perform on a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame themed night next Tuesday.
