Weekend Box Office: "Iron Man" Steals the Show

The acclaimed comic book adaptation crushes its box office competition

Well-reviewed comic book adaptation "Iron Man" won the weekend box office crown with a , nine-figure opening take.

Box office estimates show the film earning $100.8 million in its first outing, which gave it a huge victory over second place film "Made of Honor" and a rank at number ten on the all-time opening weekend gross list. "Honor" grabbed $15.5 million.

No other films were released on a wide basis.

"Baby Mama," last week's number one, fell to third with $10.3 million. "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay," which trailed "Baby Mama" last weekend, took an even bigger tumble, dropping to fifth by adding only $6 million to its take.
