The man comedy fans know as Dwight Schrute will appear in "Transformers 2"

Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute on NBC's "The Office," confirmed that he has accepted a small part in the upcoming sequel "Transformers 2."

Wilson said during an MTV interview for his upcoming film "The Rocker" that he will play a university professor in the film, which presumably catches up with Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky as he advances to college. Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro are all due back for the sequel.

Jonah Hill, who had been in talks for a small part, did not end up reaching a deal to appear in the movie.

Filming is underway for the sequel, which will again be directed by Michael Bay. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote the first film, conceived the story; Ehren Kruger wrote the screenplay for the sequel.

The film is set for release next summer.
