"Lost"'s Michael Scores New Television Role

After apparently dying on "Lost," Harold Perrineau has found a new gig

After delaying a C4 explosion to allow his fellow survivors the opportunity to exit the freighter and fly home to safety, "Lost" character Michael Dawson, having finally done what the island needed him to do, apparently died in the eventual blast.

But Harold Perrineau, the actor who played Michael, is not leaving television. The Hollywood Reporter said Monday that Perrineau has signed on for upcoming ABC pilot presentation "The Unusuals."

Perrineau will play the "always agitated" Detective Leo Banks who refuses to take off his Kevlar vest in the dramedy set at a New York police precinct.

Following his exit from "Lost," Perrineau complained that his character's failure to establish closure with son Walt ran the risk of furthering racial stereotypes.

He told TV Guide, "Listen, if I'm being really candid, there are all these questions about how they respond to black people on the show. Sayid gets to meet Nadia again, and Desmond and Penny hook up again, but a little black boy and his father hooking up, that wasn't interesting? Instead, Walt just winds up being another fatherless child. It plays into a really big, weird stereotype and, being a black person myself, that wasn't so interesting."
