Last year's winner says her material this year was not Emmy-worthy

Katherine Heigl, who won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a drama last year for her work on "Grey's Anatomy," has pulled out of contention for this year's award.

Heigl, who has never shied away from candid comments, told the Los Angeles Times that the quality of material produced by the "Grey's" writers was not strong enough to help her win a second Emmy trophy.

"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," she tells the LA Times' Gold Derby website. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
