Vince McMahon “Punched” WWE Executive After CM Punk’s Championship Win

In the first wave of what will undoubtedly be an extensive storyline follow-up, WWE Magazine portrayed Vince McMahon as irate following CM Punk’s Money in the Bank victory.

A storyline tweet from the Magazine’s account explains, “Vince just walked back to the arena and punched John Laurinaitis in the face. Heads are gonna roll.”

(Update: This worked-punch incident actually took place before the live crowd following the culmination of the PPV broadcast).

Attempting to recreate the Montreal Screwjob, the Money in the Bank main-event booking had Vince McMahon and WWE talent executive John Laurinaitis make their way to the ring in the bout’s closing moments. The second John Cena secured his STF on CM Punk, McMahon and Laurinaitis called for the bell to be rung and Cena to be declared the winner. Cena refused the screwjob victory and exited the ring to drop Laurinaitis before the executive could reach the bell area.

When Cena returned to the ring, he walked right into a GTS from CM Punk, who secured the pinfall victory.

Following Punk’s win, McMahon called for Alberto Del Rio to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase against Punk, but Punk dropped Del Rio before he could make the match official and ran through the crowd, celebrating his Championship victory.
